Bios

Judith Stokes, President, has been with Branson School Online since 2002, a virtual school for Colorado students in kindergarten through grade 12.  She has a multifaceted background with experience in education, government, and industry. Stokes previously had 23 years in the telecommunications sector and established her own consulting firm before returning to her roots in education. She is experienced with Branson School Online as a parent and teacher and member of the administration. She currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for Branson School District RE-82 supporting Branson School Online.
Heather O'Mara, Treasurer, is active in Hope Online’s daily operations in the areas of academics, technology, and finance.  Her strategic planning leadership has resulted in a key partnership with Douglas County School District.  Going on her twelfth year in the online education industry, Ms. O'Mara has a passion for online k-12 academics and at-risk youth.
 

Sarah Ault, Secretary, has been with Colorado Connections Academy for five years.  Connections Academy is a full time K-12 virtual school serving students all over the state of Colorado.  Ms. Ault began as a teacher with Connections Academy and became Principal in 2006.   She has also worked as an adjunct faculty member with Boise State University, instructing a course on K-12 teaching in the online environment.     She has presented at multiple national conferences on topics related to online teaching and administration.  Ms. Ault holds a Master's Degree in Educational Technology and believes in the power of technology to individualize learning for all students.

Dr. Kathryn Knox, Member, is the Director of School Improvement for COVA.  Throughout her twenty-five years of diverse education experience, including university, online, and charter schools, she has been a junior high English and French teacher, an ESL instructor, and a writing instructor.  Now, as part of COVA’s improvement initiatives, she oversees school accountability, accreditation and special services. 
  Tim Spencer, Member, is principal of Colorado Distance and Electronic Learning Academy (CDELA). Mr. Spencer has led CDELA for 3 years and has over 18 years of public education experience. Mr. Spencer is driven to offer our youth a successful alternative to traditional public education.
Dirk Oden, Member, is director of Monte Vista On-Line Academy.  Mr. Oden has over twenty years teaching experience, and he has been involved in online education for a decade.  He hopes his passion for learning rubs off on others. Dirk has been a presenter at national and state conferences in the areas of effective science teaching and the characteristics of quality online learning programs. He enjoys writing, cross-country skiing, canoeing, fishing, bow-hunting, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
